Looking at Art
>
This personal project investigates visual communication in art, from ancient burial paintings to pop art. JavaScript sketches were made for three paintings, each designed as an interactive experiment and reflection on the artwork. Video capture, eye tracking, pixel colour recording and distortion were used to express ideas of identity, gaze and provenance.
1 - Based on a self-portrait by Sofonisba Anguissola.
2
- Investigation of gaze-directing techniques in Corita Kent's 'That They May Have Life'.
3 - Distortion of a burial painting known as 'Eutyches', its real identity obfuscated throughout its near 2000 years of life.
